The essence of success in a networked world is rapid movement to capture unforeseen opportunities and avoid unforeseen challenges. Ishan (i-sha'n), a Sanskrit word that means direction, choice, and superiority, captures this essence.

Two seemingly contradictory ideas guide our work. Objectivity - the belief in the power of data over opinion - grounds us in reality. Creativity - the belief in the power of unconventional over the mainstream - allows us to traverse untrampled paths.

Dr. Amit Mukherjee and his wife and business partner, Ms. Sanghamitra Dutt, founded Ishan in May 2004 in order to enable our clients to thrive in a networked world. We help them develop strategy, and we create and deliver for them custom executive education programs. Amit personally leads all projects, while Sanghamitra oversees contracting and administration. For large projects, we bring in a select few partner companies and individual consultants/educators with whom we have long-standing relations.

Our clients range in size from huge global companies to much smaller ones. We have built with them mutually respectful and collaborative relationships. For example, when we help senior leaders develop strategy, we usually eschew work with their direct competitors. The list below includes some of the companies for which Amit has created strategies, developed new products, improved operations or taught executives, either through Ishan or through his former employers. The titles of executives who commissioned his efforts have ranged from Vice Presidents to members of the Boards of Directors.
